Abstract

Nowadays, research on modeling, simulation, construction, performance improvements of electromagnetic launchers is one of the main areas of research in many university and research centers in the World. In this paper, we are reporting how to making, modeling, simulation and fabrication of a prototype rail-gun with 2.2 kJ pulse power supply. In the choose model simulated current of rails, acceleration, velocity, position, exerted forces on projectile and efficiency of launcher by MATLAB codes. After fabrication and final testing of launcher, current of capacitive bank and muzzle velocity of projectile is measured by Rogowski coil and infrared sensors respectively. At the end, these values are compared with similar values in simulation.
